The last time I posted my son was going into 3rd grade but now he is a big 5th grader! Where does the time go??? My husband got his 2 year degree in Nuclear Operations but then the disaster in Japan happened & since then the job market in that industry has been about frozen. This has caused me to push my own money earning into over drive (for me, lol!). Wedding & anime convention season hit & several of my friends remembered I knew how to sew. Zomg, for realz? Yep. So I'm been up to my ears in pleather & lace for the last few months. I'd love to take credit for some of the outfits but I don't think its fair to when you just make something from a pattern & tailor it slightly. So I've decided to only post the pieces I personally designed or recreated (as far as costumes or cosplay) here.
If you have any suggestions or requests or constructive criticism or feed back I'd love to read it! Also, I don't really care if you do or don't like the movies/anime/etc I am inspired by but I do care if you don't respect my right to like them. Don't be a troll & comment just to be hateful. Just saying. Art is an expression of feelings something/someone caused you to feel that inspired you to create something. Even if I may not like the subject matter I can look with an artist's eye and recognize a great piece when I see it. So kudos to you who never give up & keep creating things!

Reposting this from a previous journal entry because so many people said it inspired them.

I got told I have absolutely no artistic skill or talent yesterday. The kicker? I got told it twice, by people I care about. The first called my art a complete waste of time, effort, and only slightly better than when I was my daughters age. She is two. Nice. The second person said my work was average and probably as good as it would ever get because I have no natural talent, at all. Thanks.
Guess what? They can have their opinions and I can disagree. I'm going to keep practicing and prove them wrong. I am already getting better. I will continue to get better. Maybe it is just that I've never really been this serious about getting better? They aren't used to me actually trying this hard? What exactly are they using as comparison for their opinions in the first place?
I'm going to go sketch now, thanks.
Go check out my secondary account, for the jewelry I make, if you haven't already please! ~craftymama ^_^
